A common question that I get asked about is regarding thyroid medication, especially Synthroid. A lot of women say they've been taking thyroid medication but they just don't feel any different.
One super important detail to remember is that Synthroid is a T4 only medication. Your thyroid makes T4 (inactive form) and T3 (active form). You need a conversion to get T4 over to T3. T3 is the one that's going to actually make your thyroid work.
If you're trying to lose weight and you just don't feel good, T4 only will NOT work! You need T3!
In this video I will discuss:
* The importance of having a full thyroid panel done
* Why T4 only medication doesn't work
* What you can do to get a full thyroid panel in the ease of your home.
Say for example, they do look at your T4 and T3 and they say everything looks fine. We're just going to put you on Synthroid. I still don't find that as a good solution simply because Synthroid really is just T4. This won't work for some people who have a conversion issue. I would say probably 95% of the women that I get have a conversion issue. They do not convert T4 over to T3, which is like I said...T3 is the active form.
So they keep getting pumped with T4 medication and it's doing absolutely nothing. They feel like shit still. They can't lose weight or they're gaining weight. And they're exhausted. They can't keep up with their kids or do just everyday house chores without feeling exhausted!
One thing you can do for one is to get a full thyroid panel. So that's the first place to start. And if your doctor's not running it, you need to absolutely demand it. And if a doctor won't do it, it is time to find a new doctor because this is your body. You control it. So that's the first thing I would do.
Second thing is if you can't get a doctor to do it, I actually have access to a lab that is great! They will send you a test kit to your home and you do a finger prick and mail the kit back to them.
The third thing you to do is if you are on Synthroid, you probably need to talk to your doctor about switching that medication. Ot at least ask them to look at your T3.

I hope you learned a thing or two why it is important to do your research regarding your thyroid meds. Hopefully, it has helped you to prioritize keeping your thyroid healthy so that you can be energized, healthy and that you can find the solutions to your thyroid problems.
