Clean, healthy eating is a huge part of a healthy-thyroid lifestyle. The relationship between what you eat and how your thyroid is functioning is really clear.
Cutting out bad foods and adding in good ones can really make a difference - it can help ease many of your symptoms and overall help improve how you’re feeling
One of the challenges, though, is that there is not necessarily one right way to eat. What worked great for me, or a client of mine, might not be what you need.
I always recommend clients stay away from GMOs, gluten, soy, alcohol, sugar and trans fats.
All of these ingredients or types of food can cause stress or inflammation in the gut, which can impact the thyroid.
For myself, I also have sensitivities to dairy and corn. So I cut those out of my diet and found it really helped improve my symptoms. However, you might be okay with dairy and corn or other gluten-free grains, so don’t think I’m telling you that you 100% have to avoid that plate of nachos!
I know this can feel like a lot! A thyroid-friendly diet can feel really scary at first.
But don’t feel like you have to cut all of these things out at once! Take it as slow as you need to so it can work with your lifestyle and be a long-term habit (not a crash diet).
Now, the best way to find out what foods you should remove from your diet to improve your symptoms is to work closely with a health professional. But, I also wanted to share a few resources I’ve created to help get you thinking about your diet and food choices.
