In addition to processed foods typical of the Western diet, below are just a few foods that commonly cause issues for people with an underactive thyroid, as well as for those at risk of developing hypothyroidism. Gluten

Alcohol
Eating certain foods can definitely slow your thyroid down.....with or without a diagnosis of hypothyroidism. And eating certain foods can tell your thyroid to work...to do what is supposed to do!
And your thyroid symptoms can definitely get worse just by the food that you are eating. Things like weight gain, fatigue, hair loss, and anxiety are some common symptoms of low thyroid, especially in women.
